Faith in the face of evil.

As I have been witnessing the events of the past month, specifically the confirmation process for our New Supreme court Justice I am reminded of some scriptures in the Old Testament that warn against those who plot evil. There are also verses for those who are plotted against to take comfort in.

Psalm 37:12–13 (ESV)

12  The wicked plots against the righteous

and gnashes his teeth at him,

13  but the Lord laughs at the wicked,

for he sees that his day is coming.

People yelling, screaming and gnashing their teeth at decisions that they disagree with betray the spirit which controls them. Plots behind closed doors are being exposed to the light of day. The curtain of the spiritual battle is being pulled back. Can you see it? This is a time for repentance. A time to turn back to God. He is in control and the devil is desperate. Do not fear or panic, pray, vote rightly, and stand for truth. Listen to this verse, especially the last part. this is how we will defeat evil, through patience, self-control, and speaking truth and prayer.

Proverbs 16:27–32 (ESV)

27  A worthless man plots evil,

and his speech is like a scorching fire.

28  A dishonest man spreads strife,

and a whisperer separates close friends.

29  A man of violence entices his neighbor

and leads him in a way that is not good.

30  Whoever winks his eyes plans dishonest things;

he who purses his lips brings evil to pass.

31  Gray hair is a crown of glory;

it is gained in a righteous life.

32  Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty,

and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
